Nicholas Azidis is known as a master of video mapping projections, covering building façades in mesmerizing and captivating imagery. For Noor Riyadh, he creates Biophilic (2022), a mapping projection which challenges the typical perception of the urban landscape.
What we experience as reality is far removed from fact. When we may touch an object, the sensation consists of electrical impulses from the sensors on our skin. Similarly, vision comes from the interaction of photons on our retinas – converted to electrical stimuli via a chemical process that our brain is able to make sense of. Indeed, all of our senses are an abstraction of the reality which surrounds us. Biophilic suggests that, through our experiences, we may filter and change the interpretation of those senses and redefine our connection to reality itself.
