Sculpture Symposium

Tuwaiq International Sculpture Symposium (TISS) will consist of 20 sculptors from around the world coming together to produce a series of permanent public sculptures. The 22-day Symposium (10th November– 2nd December 2021) is a platform for international and Saudi artists to create public sculptures in a live setting. The work will be on view for 5 days at the end of the Symposium (2nd – 6th December 2021) before moving to various outdoor locations across the city.

Jhon Gogaberishvili

Jhon Gogaberishvili

Jhon Gogaberishvili (b. 1953), is a senior figure and mentor in the Georgian sculpture scene. Graduated from Tbilisi State Academy of Fine Arts in 1983 (postgraduate studies), he has been invited as an associated professor at the academy as well.

Wafa Al-Qunibit

Wafa Al Qunibit (b. 1967) is an artist and trainer with a Masters degree in sculpture from Savannah College of Art and Design, Atlanta, U.S. (2016) and a Master of Business Administration from Columbus University (2009).

Haider Alawi Al-Alawi

Haider Alawi Al-Alawi

Calligrapher and sculptor Haidar Alawi Al-Alawi (b. 1979) holds an undergraduate degree in art education from King Saud University in Riyadh. Haider Al-Alawi entered the world of sculpture by attending a course of sculpting on marble with the Italian artist, Dionisio Cimarelli, and began by making small wood carvings.

Integral to Vision 2030, Riyadh Art is one of the largest public art programs being undertaken in the world today. It is one of the four grand projects conceived by the Royal Commission for Riyadh City to transform the capital into a vibrant, cosmopolitan city.

Comprising more than 1,000 original public art installations across the city created by local and international artists, and supported by two major annual festivals, Riyadh Art will enrich lives through creative joyful experiences.
