Let’s Play Well

Bashaer Hawsawi’s Let’s Play Well (2023) is a newly-commissioned light installation that highlights the constantly shifting nature of our everyday reality. The 12-piece artwork was inspired by the artist’s childhood memories of playing with laser pens and the fiber optic lamp game in the 1990s. It encapsulates Hawsawi’s personal journey, weaving threads of nostalgia and innovation and bringing together childhood innocence and shared memories.

Let’s Play Well invites the viewer to relish moments of simplicity and relive memories of their own childhood games while reflecting on how these helped them to learn and discover the world. The artwork also allows the viewer to regain their childhood enthusiasm and appreciate play as a tool for self-development.
