Desert Swarm

Conceived as a performance with drones, Desert Swarm mimics the behavior of decision-making in the natural world. Evolution and progress have enabled wayfinding in fauna in the natural environment. Swarming is such an example observed in birds, bees or fish. The animals move without a clear leader; their decision-making occurs in an organic, non-hierarchical way. DRIFT’s aerial performance translates this phenomenon with technological elements, showcasing the togetherness and ability of a group to work towards a similar goal, and suggesting an uncontrolled but positive route for the future.
