Catharsis

Jakob Kudsk Steensen presents a large-scale, immersive installation featuring three screens within Wadi Hanifah. The immersive video invites viewers into a digital simulation of the artist’s interpretation of an ancient, untouched forest. Developed through rigorous research by the artist himself and Matt McCorkle, his primary sound collaborator, the experience transports the audience to an imaginary woodland which for centuries has been unaffected by human influence and is suffused with birdsong. As participants engage with this virtual ecosystem, they are enveloped in a synchronized spatial audio composed of 3D textures and sounds harvested from diverse North American forests. Through this innovative approach, the artist extends an invitation to the public, encouraging them to immerse themselves in a contemplative journey.
