Jakob Kudsk Steensen is an artist working with environmental storytelling through 3D animation, sound and immersive installations. He creates poetic interpretations of overlooked natural phenomena through collaborations with biologists, composers, and writers. There is a great deal of fieldwork behind his creative process. Sound takes one of the lead roles in Steensen’s installations, allowing the audience to fully connect with the work on view. The artist draws inspiration and initiates a dialogue by exploring the intricate connection between the human body, mind and natural phenomena through immersive technologies, often sourced from perspectives beyond the immediate discourse.
Jakob Kudsk Steensen has exhibited at institutions worldwide, including ARoS Museum of Art, Aarhus, 2022; macLyon, 2021; Pompidou Centre, Paris, 2020; Serpentine, London, 2019, the Venice Biennale, 2019; Tranen Contemporary Art Center, Copenhagen, 2018; Istanbul Contemporary, 2016; among others.
