Employing mediums from photography, video, and architectural interventions to large-scale installations, Lúcia Koch’s work brings attention to overlooked aspects of the everyday environment. She alters spaces by utilizing scrims, fabric, and other methods to filter light, creating an atmosphere that suggests an altered state of the site. In addition to these interventions, she also creates photographs of empty interiors of cardboard boxes that are blown up to an architectural scale.
Recent exhibitions include Museu de Arte Contemporânea da Universidade de São Paulo, 2021; Instituto Inhotim, Brumadinho, 2020; La Biennale d’Architecture, Frac Centre – Les Turbulences, Orléans, 2017; Phoenix Art Museum, 2017; Wexner Center for the Arts, Columbus, Ohio, 2014; and Contemporary Art Museum, Tokyo, 2008; among many others.
