Javier Alvarez (b. 1986) began his journey as a stone carver in southern Germany. He worked in the marble region of Macael, Spain for over five years, where he specialized in marble. He then pursued further education for master craftsmanship of stone masonry and stone carving in Munich, Germany. Alvarez has participated in an artist residency in Carrara, Italy and studied Interior Design in Rosenheim, Germany. The visual language of classical architecture influenced his way of perceiving geometry. Fascinated with the digital methodologies of form finding, Alvarez has, in recent years, focused on 3D printing as another tool for realising his ideas.
