Born in 1992 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Lives and works in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Hayat Osamah is dedicated to visual storytelling. Often reflecting on her Middle Eastern heritage, she seeks to challenge conventional norms and celebrate diversity. Her 2020 video Badeel, produced for the AlUla Film Festival, explored themes of identity and culture in an alternative fictional context. During residencies with the Fashion Commission and Visual Art Commission at the Diriyah Biennale, she made use of biodegradable materials to capture evanescent moments. Her documentary photography likewise highlights the ways in which connecting with the past can provide insight into our present and future. In 2022, during a residency with Cortona on the Move in AlUla, she investigated the relationship between culture, history, and the present.
Osamah’s work has been featured in Cortona on the Move, Cortona, Italy, 2023; Cortona on the Move, AlUla, 2022; “The Reflected Eye”, Port Washington Public Library (virtual exhibition), 2021, among others.
