Born in Khamis Mushait, Asir, Saudi Arabia in 1985. Lives and works in Dubai, UAE.
Arwa Al Neami is from the village of Rijal Almaa, where she grew up at the King Khalid Air Base. In 2005, she joined Al Muftaha Center for Traditional Arts in Abha. In 2014 for her project A Piece of Heaven Al Neami became the first woman to be allowed to photograph inside the Prophet’s Mosque in Medina. In the 2010s she lived in Jeddah, where she co-founded Pharan Studio and her own Arwa Studio, and began exhibiting locally and internationally. From 2015–2019, Al Neami worked on the photographic series Never Never Land, which captures an important historical moment as the future of Saudi Arabia and its vision changes and develops.
She recently participated in artistic residency at the Qatar Fire Station, run by Qatar Museums, and held lectures, workshops, and a personal exhibition, “Art is Not a Race”, during her stay during the 2022 World Cup activities in Qatar.
