The Other, Me & the Others

The Other, Me & the Others (2023) is an interactive seesaw that highlights the relations among people, searching for equilibrium amongst its users as much as between its own ends. In order to activate this large-scale work, the visitors must position themselves on a large platform that teeters up and down depending on their number and the way they move. Highlighting the connections between individuals as part of a society, the installation formalises this interconnection within space. Iván Argote often questions or reinterprets public monuments, which are part of a shared and defined narration that reinforces historical figures and events. Here he presents an alternative, turning the common space into a playground open to all: a place to meet, exchange, and interact as a community.
