FADING #10

FADING #10 is an ongoing series started by Sophie Laly in 2013. On a landscape the image of a house is projected, which continues to appear and disappear as the night passes and the light begins to diminish. This installation translates a perpetual quest the artist has, to create a new type of architecture that reveals, fictionally, a place that is transformed through its appearance.  Like a mirage, FADING #10 also questions the way nature is appraised and the relationships it entertains. Sophie Laly uses pictures she took of Icelandic houses as a reference point, a way to echo the folklore of the land regarding huldufólk, the hidden people of the spirit realm. The installation is a new way to view nature, a new path to enter the landscape.
