OSGEMEOS’ work has been described as “fantastical” and “surreal” due to its dreamy, illustrative, and patterned style. The twins have always explored together, with thoughtful dedication, the various techniques of painting, drawing and sculpture, which came from engaging with the streets as their place of study. They started with graffiti, but over the years have created a shared universe, from which they dream together and draw inspiration. The imagery derived from their subconscious has become more powerful than the street art they had created: a language of its own, incorporating a multitude of influences and cultures, as it constantly evolves. Their diverse body of work, which often features yellow characters—taken from the yellow tinge in their dreams—ranges from graffiti to kinetic sculpture, from intricate video installations to elaborate murals.
OSGEMEOS’ work has been exhibited in esteemed museums and institutions including: The Institute of Contemporary Art, Boston, 2012; Institut Valéncia d’Art Modern, 2011; Centro Cultural Banco do Brasil, Rio de Janeiro, 2010; Museu de Arte Brasileira, São Paulo, 2010; Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego, 2010; and Museum of Contemporary Art, Hiroshima, 2009.
