Nevin Aladağ

Born in 1972 in Van, Turkey. Lives and works in Berlin, Germany.

Since the late 1990s, Nevin Aladağ has drawn inspiration from a range of sources, including everyday objects, language, architectural styles, urban and natural landscapes, all of which serve as the foundation for her artistic exploration. Through her work, she delves into the possibilities of sound, experimenting across various media while maintaining a particular emphasis on sound’s pivotal role in shaping environments.

Her artistic practice encompasses sculpture, performance, and film, engaging with the concepts of borderlines and frontiers, often intertwined with the intricate fabric of identity construction. Aladağ explores culture, transformation, and belonging by uniting distinct elements with disparate heritages into single works.

Nevin Aladağ’s noteworthy exhibitions include SCAD Museum of Art, Savannah, 2023; Barakat Contemporary, Seoul, 2022; Hayward Gallery, London, 2020; Martin-Gropius Bau, Berlin, 2019; San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA), 2019; documenta 14, 2017 and the Venice Biennale, 2017, among others.
