A leading figure of the third generation of Chinese artists, Li Qing’s practice is characterized by the recurrent use of windows, conceived as openings on the world. In his search to be closer to the reality of daily life, he has created a new visual language around the city, as well as fake news systems. Li Qing’s paintings, photographs, sculptures, and installations explore the relationship he has experienced with a world in constant movement, putting an emphasis on the tension and contradiction between image, language, symbols, and social spaces.
Li Qing’s work has been exhibited in several solo and group shows including at Long Museum West Bund, Shanghai, 2023; Pingshan Art Museum, Shenzen, 2020; Prada Rong Zhai, Shanghai, 2019; Zhejiang Art Museum, Hangzhou, 2019; and Frieze New York, 2017; among others.
