Founded in 2002 by Samuel Borkson (b. 1979) and Arturo Sandoval III (b. 1976). Live and work in Los Angeles, USA.
Samuel Borkson and Arturo Sandoval II created their art collaborative FriendsWithYou with the intention of bringing joy, kindness, and love to the world. Their partnership is a vehicle for emotional healing through culture creation and art making. While FriendsWithYou began creating soft sculptures and inflatables to make art more accessible, they became best known for their public art activations, which include large-scale interactive installations, playgrounds, and performance pieces, and have recently expanded into sculpture and painting. Each work is created with the intention of transcendence, and nurturing care for the viewer or participant.
FriendsWithYou has exhibited at the Indianapolis Museum of Art, 2021; Dallas Contemporary, 2020; NSU Art Museum, Florida, 2019; Santa Barbara Contemporary Arts Forum, 2012; Oakland Museum of California, 2017; Haus der Kulturen der Welt Museum, Berlin, 2009; Museum of Contemporary Art, North Miami, 2006, among others.
