Abdelrahman Elshahed (b. 1993 Makkah, KSA) is a Jeddah-based artist who creates geometric Arabic calligraphy pieces. Elshahed’s symbolic mixed media artworks discuss multiple ideas and concepts like mercy, justice and truth, which he believes are important values for humanity.
Elshahed learned the art of calligraphy at the Holy Mosque of Makkah and received the calligraphy certification ‘Ijaza’ in 2012. The artist has participated in many local and international exhibitions such as the Islamic Arts Biennale, Diriyah Biennale Foundation, Jeddah (2023), the Calligraphy Biennale, Sharjah Art Museum, Sharjah (2022) and the Islamic Arts Festival, Sharjah Art Museum, Sharjah (2019).
