Sebastian Betancur-Montoya

He was born in the highlands of the northern Andes mountain range 1.982 AD. With a landscape architect´s sensibility, the urbanist macro perspective and a maker´s eye for  details, Sebastián develops public art masterplans and interventions as a curator, artist, and  fabricator interchangeably. He holds a certification in Sculpture fabrication, a BA in Architecture/Urbanism, and an MA in Museums and Gallery Practice. Producing work in disparate  contexts such as Latin America, the Caribbean and the SWANA Region for 19 years have situated  his personal subject interests at the intersection of mobility, global politics, and local ecologies.

Sebastian’s personal work compresses a diversity of mediums such as drawing, installation, assemblage, land-art, performance, and recently audio and digital image intertwined with parallel  projects of curatorial practice and social/environmental activism. His work has been part of  exhibitions, publications, residencies, workshops, and art fairs in Colombia, Nassau, St.  Petersburg, Berlin, Cardiff, Derby, London, Shanghai, and across the GCC [Doha, Riyadh,  Jeddah, Muscat, Manama, Kuwait, Sharjah].
