Theta

Theta (2022) is a piece of Gesamtkunstwerk (total art) that invites world class creators in digital animation, motion graphics, the movement arts, and creative technology to create human sculptures of light that come to life in virtual reality when audiences interact with them. These interactions are designed with principles of neuroscience, including audiovisual synchrony and sensory illusions, to explore the communicative function of art. The neural oscillatory frequency that inspired the piece, theta, is involved in attention, engagement, and coordinating communicative behaviors within and across individuals.
