Noor Talk – Inspired by Light – Noor Riyadh Opening Panel

This opening panel brings together the curators of Noor Riyadh’s citywide installations Eiman Elgibreen and Pam Toonen, with International Artist Curatorial Consultant Vincenzo de Bellis, and the curators of the Light Upon Light: Light Art since the 1960s, Susan Davidson and Raneem Farsi. The panel will discuss, with Noor Riyadh artistic director Sumantro Ghose, their curatorial approaches and how they shaped Saudi Arabia’s first festival of light art.

The workshop builds on traditional methods of making baskets commonly seen in Asia and known as hex weaving and comprised of strips of paper and bambo. The end result will be creating unqiue lampshades (of vibrant colors) and basic understanding of 2D and 3D geometry and sculptural work
