Trhab

Tuwaiq Sculpture

YEAR

2025

Bodour AlAqidi’s Trhab celebrates the deeply rooted values of Saudi culture, particularly generosity and hospitality. Crafted from stone, the sculpture captures the ethereal beauty of incense smoke as it rises and diffuses—a universal symbol of welcome. The flowing, intricate formations mimic the delicate dance of smoke, evoking a sense of lightness and upward motion despite the solidity of the medium.

By using stone to depict such fleeting moments, the work emphasizes the contrast between permanence and transience, transforming the ephemeral into a tangible, enduring form. The interwoven curves and fluid shapes within the piece echo the continuous flow of smoke, blending the whimsical with profound cultural meaning.

Inspired by precise moments when incense smoke was captured on camera, Trhab freezes this delicate dance in time and space. It transforms the intangible into a harmonious form that bridges the poetic beauty of ascension with the enduring essence of Saudi values.
