A.A.Murakami’s The Passage of Ra (2024) is a multimedia art installation inspired by Ra, the sun deity in ancient Egyptian mythology, and his daily passage across the sky to create day and night.

The artwork features a screen projection of a digital seascape and tangible fog rings that float toward it. Upon contact with the wall, the rings vanish into the air and appear on screen to sail into the ocean horizon, resuming their journey in a virtual world. Ra’s never-ending voyage is reflected in the fog rings, which transcend our physical space to achieve eternity in the digital realm.

In this liminal space between art and technology, the viewer is invited to draw parallels between the short-lived fog rings and the fleeting nature of our existence, both destined to break down and transform into new states of energy across dimensions.
