Nawaf Al Dohan’s Sukoon (2024), Arabic for ‘peace,’ is a retro-themed, interactive projection that reflects Riyadh’s live weather changes. Inspired by the link between the city’s natural landscape and urban environment, the newly commissioned artwork offers moments of tranquility within the bustling metropolis by integrating natural motifs with real-time interactive technology.

Visitors are invited to observe a pixelated depiction of Riyadh’s skyline, spotted with trees in the foreground. Sometimes shrouded in clouds and at other times bathed in a twilight glow, the scene continuously evolves. Within this seemingly alive portrait, elements like clouds and palm trees respond to visitor movements through sensors and visual technologies, creating a playful, tangible connection with the audience.

Through active participation, viewers are invited to contemplate the peaceful contrast between urban life and nature, inspiring appreciation for Riyadh’s diverse weather conditions.
