Noha AlSharif’s Sanam draws on the artist’s ongoing scientific, cultural, archaeological and, naturally, artistic exploration. The word ‘sanam’ carries many cultural connotations that refer to the summit or peak, and means the highest point in the hump of the mountain. The camel’s hump means strength and sublimity, and the hump of life reflects the artist’s journey to achieve success in life through practical experience and multiple studies of the unity of form.

The work also refers to the visually contrasting relationship in sculptural practice; through the diversity between the textures of the shape, the smooth polished surfaces, and the rough textured surfaces. The contrast in the natural color of the material also appears between the rough part and the hue of the polished surface, which achieves visual harmony and emphasizes paradoxical elements of movement and stillness in the form.
