TUNDRA’s ROW (2020) is an audiovisual installation that uses LED holographs to visualize sound in an innovative way. Inspired by the row as a basic method for structuring information, whether in mathematics or music, the artwork attempts to translate audio data in the air through a linear exploration of sound, image and space.
ROW highlights the spatial depth of the installation space it is exhibited in, spanning the area with 10 holographic fans arranged in a line These high-speed fans ‘paint’ a 3D image of various soundbites, with their oscillating frequencies using abstract light objects.
Visitors visually experience the soundscape in the form of Lissajous curves, criss-cross patterns created when two varying pitches or waveforms intersect on a graph. When viewed from different angles, the dynamic sculpture creates an optical illusion, seemingly changing and offering new interpretations for the audience.
