Xavi Bové Studio’s Phasing Rain (2019) is an immersive light and sound installation that invites us to reflect on the urgent issue of global warming. Through the work, Bové gives value to water as a natural resource, raising awareness of the importance it has for our survival.
Phasing Rain consists of LED columns encircling a space where the viewer can move freely. Each column is paired with a speaker, which is linked to a musical note representing a drop of water. The sounds of the drops change through phase shifting, creating an evolving spatial experience. This effect disorientates the viewer, acting as a metaphor for the uncertainty that climate change brings.
The evocative installation serves as a reminder of humanity’s impact on the environment, urging the viewer to consider their role and confront the unseen forces that shape our collective future.
