Chuan-Hsien Yeh’s Ongoing Tense is designed to raise awareness of one of the planet’s most pressing and urgent issues. The work transforms hard stone into a soft material through the process of melting and depicts how global warming has changed ecosystems and natural landscapes around the world.

Yeh says his goal is to raise people’s awareness of this ongoing issue. However, in addition to its outward artistic expression, Ongoing Tense also conveys a deeper meaning. Through contemporary art forms, we can send the message to future archaeologists that our generation is not just a copy of an existing object but holds infinite possibilities. Human beings need more than just a practical material life; we also need art to enrich our spiritual life.
