Journey to the Light, 2024

Nasser Al Turki’s Journey to the Light (2024) is a multimedia installation about embarking on an inner journey to heal and reach self-awareness. Inspired by the astrolabe, an ancient instrument used to map celestial bodies, the newly commissioned artwork acts like a navigator for the human soul. The viewer undertakes Al Turki’s voyage by walking through a lit passage.

Iron panels make up the walls, where light runs along the longitude and latitude lines etched into the metal sheets. A mirror reflects the viewer’s interaction, inviting them to contemplate the transition to light from darkness and feel inspired to move toward a spiritual elevation. Through this journey, Al Turki hopes we achieve collective enlightenment, which he believes comes from embracing a positive outlook on life.
