From East to West and North to South, 2024

THIRD SPACE* Studio’s From East to West and North to South (2024) is an interactive light installation set against the backdrop of a rapidly transforming Saudi Arabia. The newly commissioned artwork uses the motifs of light and play as symbols of temptation and dreaming within this reforming landscape.

Visitors are invited to engage with a four-way seesaw. Upon interaction and engagement, the artwork shifts with the user’s movement. The up-and-down motion is symbolic of the nature of wayfinding within a globalized world, reflecting our relationality to one another within our collective journeying. In rhythm and one-by-one, the artwork inspires the viewer to literally and figuratively reach the sky, transforming the site into a dreamscape.

Through engagement and exploration, the installation encourages introspection about what it means to reimagine oneself and embark on a journey across the globe.
