Ksawery Komputery’s FLUX (2022) is an immersive light installation that allows the viewer to interact with dynamic, evolving graphics through gestural and vocal signals. Reflecting the fluidity of the digital and physical world, the artwork emphasizes the interactive relationship between people and technology.
The viewer encounters high-powered LED strips suspended from a six-meter structure, forming a tubular shape. As they approach the installation, its sound-responsive sensors and high-speed cameras pick up on their movements, which are translated into graphics by a custom-made algorithm. At times, the LEDs display the image of whoever steps in front of the installation’s cameras, while at others, they enter a performance mode, showing visuals based on footage sourced from the audience.
By immersing participants in a multisensory experience, FLUX evokes reflection on the fluid nature of our digital age and encourages the viewer to consider their own interactions with technology.
