Collectif Scale’s Flux (2021) is a kinetic art installation inspired by the dynamism and geometry of nature. Made up of 48 strips of light arranged in a circle, the structure moves at varying speeds, sometimes slowly and poetically and at other times in a raging frenzy, creating light trails.
Controlled in real time, the strips of light bring the kinetic design to life and write their own poetry in motion. Small changes in phasing, time delay, vibration, and rotation speed lead to varying hypnotic patterns. While observing Flux, the viewer is invited to contemplate how light visually transcribes music.
This modular installation debuted at the Constellations de Metz festival in Metz, France, in 2021, and has been traveling the world since, illuminating music stages and art events.
