Evolution

Masa Paunovic’s Evolution is a symbol of change, creation, and improvement. Paunovic’s sculptures represent something or a process that is not finished – something that evolves from natural surroundings and has the need to grow and develop and, ultimately, change forever.

The concept of an ‘unfinished process’ gives the piece a potent, ambiguous quality – strange tendrils erupting, or being birthed, from a solid, lump-like form. It is composed from rough stone, which marks an evolution in the artist’s work; in 2012 Paunovic specialized in the artistic treatment of metal at Centro TAM in Italy following her university studies in her native Belgrade.
