Atelier Sisu’s Evanescent (2021) is an immersive public art installation based on the fleeting quality of time. Inspired by the Covid-19 pandemic, the artwork emphasizes the fragility of our world and the moments we take for granted through larger-than-life bubbles filled with light and sound.
Made from dichroic film, the installation changes colors throughout the day as the sun travels across the sky, casting rainbow-like reflections on the ground. At night, internal lights illuminate the bubbles, accompanied by an ethereal soundscape.
The viewer is invited to walk under and among the structures and consider the world as a space of ephemerality. The artists hope that Evanescent’s playful and whimsical form inspires us to live in the moment.
