Catharsis – Not just Eternity, but Infinity

Ana Maria Negară’s Catharsis – Not just Eternity, but Infinity (2021), is based on the mysterious world of the labyrinth myth, an unexplored world of both certainty and uncertainty. She describes this struggle to balance harmony with chaos and mystery as a struggle of paradoxes.

The labyrinth in her sculpture is transformed into Kufic writing, which formed a part of Negară’s doctoral thesis, generating new ways of implementing artistic formulas and, an enormous increase of consciousness for herself. Negară considers her sculpture as a transdisciplinary piece, since it demonstrates knowledge from diverse fields of activity – art and theology, science and philosophy.
