WADI HANIFAH
Hashel Al Lamki’s Bronze (2024) is a multimedia installation that highlights the dynamic contours of the Jebel Hafit mountain in Al Ain, UAE with neon lights. Based on Al Lamki’s painting Bronze (2021), this three-dimensional iteration reimagines the spirit of his hometown’s landscape in an immersive, spatial experience. It also references the Bronze Age, emphasizing its pivotal role in the development of modern society through the discovery of metallurgy.
Situated in Wadi Hanifah, the artwork features a metal cuboid structure wrapped in mesh fabric, where orange and pink neon lights wind through the surface, evoking the colors of the sunset. Visitors are invited to walk into the entryway and reflect on mountains as a universal symbol of connection that transcends time and geography to link humanity and past civilizations.
As the piece celebrates history, it also encourages the young viewer to draw inspiration from ancient legacies and embrace them within our contemporary landscapes.
