United Visual Artists’ Aether (2024) is a performative artwork composed of 1,500 drones, inspired by the ancient notion of hidden forces that shape our world. The 7-minute drone show draws on Pythagoras’ concept of Musica Universalis—translated as the music of the spheres—which suggests planets create a higher form of sound that is inaudible to the human ear. As such, Aether embodies the silent harmony of the stars and planets, bringing the unseen into view to a striking effect.
The work transforms the city sky into a living canvas, revealing the hidden energies that connect us to the universe. Resembling a fabric woven from light, the drones’ formations reveal the delicate balance between order and chaos, illustrating the interplay of forces that mold reality.
The artwork’s combination of light, sound and movement invites the viewer to experience the beauty of the invisible and reflect on the silent music of the cosmos.
