Noor Riyadh
Saad Al Howede (b. 1975) is a Saudi artist who primarily works with conceptual installations to document heritage and explore how events are remembered. Applying his PhD in art philosophy, Al Howede examines the role of archives, historical revisionism and ‘post-memory,’ questioning whether it is possible to live without memories.
Curious about people and their customs, the Riyadh-based artist finds inspiration in diverse cultures and the commonalities between them, synthesizing his ideas into a visual story.
Al Howede’s On Instinct, a light artwork that explores the human fingerprint as a physical trace of presence, was shown at Noor Riyadh in 2022. His recent group exhibitions include Imagine, BIENALSUR at the Saudi Arabia Museum of Contemporary Art (SAMoCA), Riyadh (2023) and Strangers in the Palace. Chapter 2, BIENALSUR at Museo de Artes Decorativas, Argentina, and Uruguay (2023).
