Noor Riyadh
Romain Tardy (b. 1984) is a French visual artist whose practice combines elements of light, video mapping, physical objects and sound to create immersive installations.
Through tangible, ‘offline’ artworks, such as light sculptures and audiovisual dispositives, the Brussels-based artist explores how the digital world transforms humans and societies as a whole. He often draws inspiration from creatives who take a critical approach toward technology, like German filmmaker Hito Steyerl, and contemporaries from the late 20th century for their focus on minimalism, namely American artist Sol LeWitt.
During his fine arts studies at the École des Beaux-Arts, France, Tardy began experimenting with live visual performances at concerts and art festivals. In 2008, he co-founded the European visual label AntiVJ, exhibiting internationally as a collective and eventually coming into his solo artistic career years later.
Tardy’s recent group exhibitions include Fête des Lumières, Lyon and Sharjah Light Festival in 2024.
