Noor Riyadh
Ricardo Morcillo (b. 1983) is a Spanish artist and architect specializing in creative light installations. Fascinated by the intangible nature of light, Morcillo wields this medium to transform spaces and the experiences of those in them. The artist aims to inspire audiences toward a brighter, more hopeful future through his works, which explore humanity’s connection with the planet, highlighting issues ranging from environmental protection to the revitalization of urban spaces.
Morcillo’s formal education in architecture sparked his curiosity about light as a material, leading the Madrid-based creative to pursue a degree in Lighting Design from the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences, the Netherlands. His artworks since have been part of several festivals and exhibitions, including LuzMadrid, Madrid in 2023, Madrid Design Festival, Madrid in 2023 and Bright Brussels, Festival of Lights, Brussels in 2018.
In 2022, he won the 40 under 40 award by Light Collective and Filix Lighting
