Rashed AlShashai (b. 1977) is a Saudi contemporary artist and art educator who often recreates cultural motifs through playful forms and recognizable everyday objects. Influenced by his local community and heritage, the Riyadh-based artist addresses social issues through his conceptual works, creating a ‘semantic field’ with mundane items to explore the questions of human existence and societal change.
AlShashai holds a Master’s Degree in Visual Arts and has been teaching for more than two decades. The artist has been widely exhibited, including in Forever is Now III by Art D’Égypte at the Pyramids of Giza, Egypt (2023) ,and Refracted Identities, Shared Futures, Noor Riyadh Exhibition, Riyadh (2023). Additionally, AlShashai showcased his work Brand 14 at Art Dubai 2021, held at the Dubai International Financial Centre.
