Noor Riyadh
Nick Verstand (b. 1984) is a Dutch contemporary artist who researches human perception through spatial audiovisual compositions. Exploring the boundary between material and immaterial, Verstand’s installations and live performances aim to break social barriers by inviting the audience to co-create with the artist. The resulting intuitive experiences generate a hypnotizing environment for the subconscious mind.
The Amsterdam-based artist has a formal education in music technology from the HKU University of the Arts in the Netherlands. In 2019, he collaborated with Dutch fashion designer Iris van Herpen to illuminate a dress worn by Icelandic musician Björk during her Cornucopia concert at The Shed, New York City. Verstand’s recent group exhibitions include Ekstasis. A Universe of Light and Sound, Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, Amsterdam (2023) and GQ Lab? Exhibition, Museum of Contemporary Art Shanghai, Shanghai (2022).
His collaborative installation ANIMA (2014) with Berlin-based art studio onformative was shortlisted for the Lumen Prize 2016.
