Najla Alqubaisi (b. 1981) is a Saudi artist specializing in traditional and contemporary printmaking techniques, often combined with media and new technologies. Raised by a mixed family from the central and southern regions of Saudi Arabia, Alqubaisi draws inspiration from diverse local textures, colors and patterns. Family influences from the central region further inspired her ongoing PhD research in regional folk songs.
In 2022, Alqubaisi established “Our Infinite Voices”, an initiative that documents the oral heritage of Saudi women, for which she was presented the Princess Nourah Award for Women’s Excellence in 2023. Her artwork series Women From Aseer (2024) is part of a permanent collection at the Shada Hotel in Dubai, while her recent group shows include Beyond The Door, Diriyah Doors Exhibition, Diriyah (2023).
Alqubaisi is currently an assistant professor of visual arts at Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University, Riyadh.
