Joel Shapiro (United States, b. 1941) is an acclaimed sculptor whose work investigates the intersection of abstraction and the human form. Emerging in the 1970s as a key figure in post-minimalism, Shapiro uses geometric volumes to suggest movement, emotion, and presence.

His dynamic bronze and wood compositions appear to defy gravity, engaging space with both tension and grace.
