Ikram Kabbaj (b. 1960) trained first at the Casablanca School of Fine Arts, and later at the Paris Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts. Since 1989, she has been exploring materials and shapes which she shows in Morocco and overseas, as well as through her participation in several sculpture symposiums and biennales. Advocating in favor of integrating sculpture in public spaces, Ikram has actively been involved in discussions about art, urban planning, environment and city development across Morocco, with positive impact, as demonstrated in the organization of the first to the seventh International Sculpture Symposium in Morocco, which resulted in the development of seven outdoor sculpture parks with a total of 62 sculptures.
