Hmoud Alattawi (b. 1986) is a Saudi multidisciplinary artist and art educator who utilizes installation, sculpture, printmaking and photography to examine how society influences human behavior. In his works, Alattawi depicts concepts from Saudi historical folklore or its contemporary reality, exploring the past of his nation through cultural facets like chants, folk dance and poetry. Furthermore, the Riyadh-based artist often traces collective and individual memory in his projects, fascinated by how these narratives translate between traditional and new media.
In 2016, Alattawi co-founded Wasm Studio in Riyadh alongside Saudi artist Saad Al Howede. Wasm Studio provides a creative and nurturing space that helps young artists break into the local and international art scene.
His recent group exhibitions include Feeling the Stones, Diriyah Contemporary Art Biennale, Diriyah (2021) and Strangers in the Palace. Chapter 1, BIENALSUR at the National Museum of Decorative Arts, Buenos Aires (2023).
