Born in 1986 in Casablanca, Morocco, Hicham Berrada lives and works in Paris and Roubaix, France. Using a scientific approach, the work of Hicham Berrada combines intuition and knowledge, science and poetry. As if a painter whose pigments and brushes would be heat, cold, magnetism and light, Hicham Berrada mobilizes scientific protocols in order to explore physical, chemical and biological phenomena.
His work has been presented in numerous solo and group exhibitions at the Centre Pompidou, Paris; the Palais de Tokyo, Paris; the Maubuisson Abbey; in the gardens of the Palace of Versailles; at the Mac Val, Vitry-sur-Seine; the macLyon; the CCCOD, Tours; the MRAC–Musée Régional d’art contemporain Languedoc Roussillon, Sérignan; the Fresnoy–Studio national des arts contemporains, Tourcoing; the ZKM, Karlsruhe; the Frankfurter Kunstverein, Frankfurt-am-Main; the MoMA PS1, New York; the ICAS–Institute of Contemporary Art, Singapore; the Moderna Museet, Stockholm and the Banco de la República, Bogota. Hicham Berrada was nominated for the 2020 Marcel Duchamp Prize.
