Random International (est. 2005) is a postdigital art group founded by Hannes Koche (b. 1975) and Florian Ortkrass (b. 1975) that explores the impact of technological development on the human condition through large-scale interactive installations. Utilizing sculpture, light, kinetics, video, print and sound, the team works from their studios in London and Stockholm to broaden the question of what it is to be alive today, experimenting with how we connect to other kinds of life, different views of the world, and one another.
The collective began to garner international recognition following its premiere at London’s Barbican Centre with the celebrated artwork, Rain Room (2012). Since then, they have exhibited globally and their works are part of the collections of renowned institutions, including the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the Museum of Modern Art, New York, the Sharjah Art Foundation, and the Victoria and Albert Museum, London.
